Right off the bat, it must be said that the explosively flavourful signature burger everyone told you to try at this place — bowing under the weight of sharp cheddar and caramelized onions and served on an egg bun — doesn’t disappoint. The baked-to-order Valrhona chocolate cake, with its peanut butter centre and vanilla bean ice cream side, kisses a meal’s finish marvelously. A lusciously green patio invites in the summertime, but lots of Harbord Room regulars prefer a seat at the bar. Cocktails — zinging with ingredients like house-made vanilla bitters and muddled apple — are boozy and inventive, and the bartenders that prepare them minor TO celebrities in their own right.
